Restore Your Smile in Three Easy Steps
Many patients who want dental implants are concerned that the process is too lengthy and complicated. However, restoring your smile with dental implants is a lot simpler than most patients are led to believe.
Keep reading to learn how we can transform your smile and protect your oral health in just three easy steps.
Your Initial Consultation
The first step to your new smile is scheduling an initial consultation with Dr. Sullivan. During this visit, he’ll thoroughly examine the state of your oral health and determine if dental implants are the best solution for you. He’ll also explain the entire process in detail and answer any questions you might have, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
If you suffer from jawbone deterioration or gum disease, you may need to undergo one or more supplemental procedures to prepare your mouth for implants. We perform three of these procedures in our office for your convenience: bone grafting, sinus augmentation, and ridge modification.
Placing Your Implants
Leading up to your surgery, we’ll use our advanced technology to plan the placement of your dental implant. Our CBCT scanner generates high-quality 3D images of your oral cavity that allow us to identify any potential issues that could interfere with the success of your implant. This also helps us plan your surgery with extreme precision, determining the ideal location in your jaw to place the fixture.
Once Dr. Sullivan determines you’re ready, he’ll place the implant post directly in your jaw and protect it with a temporary crown. From this point, your mouth will need three to six months to heal before your final restoration is attached. This recovery period allows time for osseointegration, the process of your implant fusing with your jaw to replace a natural tooth root.
For patients who want to save time, we also feature same day implant dentures. Using as little as four implants, we can restore a full arch of missing teeth in just one appointment.
After your implant has successfully integrated with your jaw, you can return to our office for your permanent replacement tooth. First, Dr. Sullivan will attach a small connecting piece called an abutment to your implant fixture. Once this is secure, he’ll mount your natural-looking porcelain crown onto the abutment and double-check that the fit is perfect.
At this point, all that’s left to do is enjoy your beautiful new smile.
